If you are considering our services we would be pleased to conduct a two hour introductory consultation, without charge, in our office or at your place of business.
Who Should Consult Us
We are available for consultation to family members in family businesses and for partners and executives in other businesses. We can also be of help to business advisors including attorneys, certified public accountants, financial planners and others who consult to businesses and find that personal or interpersonal problems are making practical solutions to practical problems unattainable.
We consult on issues that affect all businesses. These include:
- Unhealthy competition and rivalry between principals
- Disputes concerning those in leadership and whose decision counts
- Spilling over of internal conflicts into relationships with customers and clients
- Emotional factors that interfere with rational decision-making
Family businesses face additional unique challenges such as:
- Competition and rivalry between family members that carry into the business issues that originated in earlier family relationships
- Compensation, promotion and performance reviews of employees and associates who are also family members
- Relationships between managers who are family members and those who are not family members
- Family members experiencing feelings of unfair treatment or being passed over
- Difficulties in making business deals because of family disagreement
- Succession and succession planning
- Emotional factors that enter into decisions about the future of the business; for example, whether to go public, to sell the business or to keep the business in the family
Partnerships of married couples or between significant others:
- As in with other family businesses, personal and business lives are intertwined
- The well-being of the personal and business lives are dependent on each other
- Conflicts and tensions may arise over the sharing of power, assets and control in the business
- Such conflicts may reflect, or provoke, similar difficulties in the personal lives of the partners
These are only examples of problems that may arise. Your unique situation and problems can be addressed to help you arrive at a successful resolution of the difficulties that stand in the way of further business success.
